THE AL-THANI AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY
 
Sheik Saoud Al-Thani from Qatar, the world’s most important art collector, is founder and name giving personality of a unique international photo contest: THE AL-THANI AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY.
 
It is the aim of the contest to promote the art of photography in establishing a world wide number one photo event. It shall encourage participants from around the globe to communicate with each other through the wonderful language of photography.
 
The contest is organized extraterritorially on behalf of the Qatar Photographic Society by the experienced team of Trierenberg Super Circuit in Austria, where the judging will take place too.
 
The exhibition will be presented in Doha / Qatar as well as on location all over the world. In 2010 after showing the exhibition in Pingyao / China. Kiew / Ukraine, St. Petersburgh / Russia and Volterra / Italy it will be on display in Iraklio, Greece.
 
 
The official opening will be on June 3, 2010 at 20.30 a.m. in the St. Marks Basilica.

 The exhibition will be open every day from June 1 – June 6 with this opening time: 09:00-13:00 AND 18:00 21:00
 
Dr. Chris. Hinterobermaier, Chairman of the Al-Thani Award for Photography will be present at the opening. The exhibition in Iraklio will present the very best entries from the contest of the past years. In addition to the exhibition a stunning digital slide will present the best entries in the Al-Thani Award 2009. Your eyes will make eyes!.
