GPU proudly participated in Photo Beijing 2025, one of the world’s premier photography events, as a co-organizer of two major international exhibitions — “Origin of Civilization: Visual Memories of the Three Ancient Civilizations” and the 6th “View & Appreciate: Exhibition of Presidents of Photography Organizations from Ten Countries.”
At the opening ceremony, GPU President Manolis Metzakis and Vice President Guo Jing joined distinguished guests and international photography leaders to celebrate the unifying power of art and visual storytelling.
Among the highlights of this major event, was the exhibition “Origin of Civilization,” which featured rare and historically significant photographs from the 1930s — offering a visual journey through Greece, China, and Egypt. These images capture everyday life across three ancient cultures, reflecting shared human values and the timeless essence of civilization.
Together with contemporary works from across the globe, these exhibitions created a cross-cultural dialogue on heritage, craftsmanship, and innovation.
In his speech, President Metzakis emphasized that “Photo Beijing is not only a visual feast but also a cross-cultural dialogue of the heart.”
GPU continues its mission to promote photography as a universal language that bridges nations, emotions, and generations.
**GPU wishes to extend its gratitude for the Greek Photos collection to collector Mr Mihalis Krasakis and curator Mrs Stella Kukulaki for their invaluable contribution to the exhibition**
